Coach Info

Emily Gekides:

Emily has served as a coach for Dynamite cheer since May 2008. She began her cheerleading career under the guidance of Steve and Betsy Potter as a part of Champs for Christ where they won the 1999 All-Star Nationals. She continued to cheer in college at Hinds Community College and finished her cheerleading career at Delta State University where the team placed 3rd in the nation at the 2005 UCA College Nationals. Emily was a two-year staff member for the Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders teaching thousands of cheerleaders across the Midwest and throughout the Southeastern United States.

Emily originally graduated in 2005 from Delta State University with a Bachelors in Speech-Language Pathology and minored in Special Education. In May 2007, she graduated with a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from Jackson State University and currently serves as a speech therapist for Madison County Schools.

Brian Grossman:

As a four year member of the Indiana Wesleyan University cheer squad, Brian served as captain through his Junior and Senior years. A four time UCA Nationals team member, Indiana Wesleyan placed in the top ten each time. Brian was a four-year staff member for the Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders instructing all levels and ages throughout the eastern United States. After finishing at Indiana Wesleyan, Brian took over as the Cheer director at TWIGS Kids Gymnastics in Dayton, Ohio and restructured the All-Star Program to increase it by 200%. During this time, the number of Cheer Groups increased by 325% while the TWIGS cheer program served over 20 teams in the area and the program grew to over 390 cheerleaders and tumblers.

Hired at University of Southern Mississippi in June 2007, as the Conference USA Graduate Assistant, Brian served as the Co-ed and All-girl coach.  He organized pre-game traditions, in-game promotions, and choreographed skills to be implemented in front of 30,000 enthusiasts. Brian was also the spirit coordinator where he organized practices, special appearances, pep-rallies, and the Eagle Walk while creatively promoting Seymour, the Golden Eagle, in their Capitol One Mascot Campaign.  Brian directed the spirit unit on numerous road trips, bowl games, and Conference USA Championships.
